Five injured after Jeep overturned near Othello

— Five Connell residents were injured in a in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 17 about five miles south of Othello Sunday.

Manuel Torresortiz, 31, was driving a 1993 Jeep Cherokee southbound on Booker Road at about 6:45 p.m.

Torresortiz apparently failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway 17, and when the Jeep crosses the highway, it overturned and stopped on the south side of the roadway, according to Washington State Patrol.

The driver was injured, along with his passengers Lilly Trujillo, 28, Daisy Torres, 6 months, Angel M. Torres, 7, and Alexis M. Torres, 5. They were all transported to Othello General Hospital.

His passengers were treated and released. But Torresortiz was treated and then transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he was in satisfactory condition on Monday.

Torresortiz was charged in connection with failing to stop at a stop sign and lacking a valid operators license.
