Letter: Offer more English classes for adults

February 2, 2014

I noticed an article in the Herald on Jan.20 on page 1 of section B. It was about the Kennewick school district offering language classes, to adults to learn Spanish, Russian or Japanese. The article didn't state the reason the KSD was offering this class, so I am presuming it was for adults to broaden their horizon. One would think, maybe if this type of class is offered, maybe English should be offered.

I don't know who is paying for this, as that was not mentioned in the article. In my opinion, I believe more English classes should be offered, since it is the language spoken in the United States. I really can't fathom that many adults wanting to learn a foreign language just to go on vacation. Just my thought.
