Americans lose 3-1 at Edmonton

By the Tri-City HeraldFebruary 2, 2014

The Edmonton Oil Kings erupted for three goals in the second period Friday night, skating away with a 3-1 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans.

The loss snapped Tri-City’s six-game point streak as well as Americans goalie Eric Comrie’s run of seven straight games without allowing more than one goal. Comrie finished with 35 saves.

The game was still scoreless when the hosts took control in the second, outshooting the Americans 21-6 in the period. Curtis Lazar got it started with his 28th goal nearly eight minutes into the frame. Lane Bauer connected just 47 seconds later, and Aaron Irving capped Edmonton’s scoring at 18:27.

The Ams didn’t score until the final minute of the game, when Brian Williams connected for his 32nd goal of the season.
