January 18, 2014 - McKenzie Jane Brown, a stylist at Mane FX Salon in Kennewick, got a tattoo of the Seahawks logo on her head in hopes of winning tickets to last week's playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, but placed second in the radio contest. Brown doesn't regret the move and plans on growing her hair out in the off-season, but shaving it when fall football starts again.

A Kennewick hairstylist is getting national attention after having the side of her head tattooed with a Seattle Seahawks logo.

McKenzie Jane Brown was invited by NBC's Today show producers to appear at a Seahawks rally this morning in Seattle. It's one of three rallies the TV show has organized in Seattle, Denver and New York on Friday.

Brown, who was featured in the Herald on Jan. 18, said she was asked to be at the Seattle rally at 3 a.m. Pacific time, ahead of the show's East Coast broadcast.

Skittles candy, a favorite of Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, plans to give Brown a gift package as part of a promotion to celebrate Lynch, the Seahawks and its fans, a candy company spokeswoman told the Herald.

Earlier this month, Brown shaved the left side of her head and her husband Matt Brown, an artist with Parkway Tattoo in Richland, permanently tattooed the hawk silhouette and the number 12 into her scalp.

The 12th man is the nickname for the Seahawks' rowdy fans, who are considered to be like an extra player on the field.

McKenzie got her 10th tattoo in an attempt to win Seahawks playoff tickets in an online photo contest sponsored by a Tri-City radio station.

But she lost out to a fan dressed in a Seahawks-themed Batman costume.

Brown, who has never been to a Seahawks game, also tried to win tickets to the Super Bowl. Her friend submitted a video of her getting the tattoo to the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The video showed footage of Brown's long black hair being shaved and her head being tattooed. It also included an offer to get an "Ellen" tattoo on the other side of her head if she won but she didn't hear back from the show.

The Herald's story about Brown received links on numerous sports and news websites, including Deadspin, Fox Sports and Sports Illustrated's MMQB (Monday Morning Quarterback).

As she was headed out Thursday night for Seattle, Brown said she was looking forward to the rally.

"I'm excited just to be in the heart of Seattle and feel the energy from all the 12th Man fans," she said.

The Seattle Today broadcast is scheduled to be recorded from 4 to 7 a.m. at F.X. McRory's restaurant and aired at its regular time on the West Coast.

Brown plans to grow her hair out after the Super Bowl and shave it again in time for the 2014 season.
