Woman jumps from moving pickup, has minor injuries

— A 33-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after she jumped from a moving pickup truck on Interstate 82 near Benton City.

The truck was going around 55 mph when the woman jumped, according to the Washington State Patrol. She suffered minor injuries, including scrapes.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, state patrol said. Her name was not released.

The woman and her boyfriend were discussing mental health issues and medication before she jumped from the car, state patrol said. The driver was able to slow down some before she jumped.

The woman was treated at the hospital for her injuries and will have a mental health evaluation, state patrol said.
