International Mother Language Day, sponsored by the Three Rivers Folklife Society, will be celebrated Feb. 23 in the Tri-Cities.

Anyone interested in making a presentation about their native language at the event is encouraged to register by Friday.

For more information, call Sandip Dasverma at 371-1286.

At last year's event, there were 15 languages represented and organizers are hoping to exceed that number this year.

The celebration is set for 2 p.m. in the Battelle Auditorium, on Battelle Boulevard off George Washington Way in Richland.

Each group will have a 10-minute presentation, with four of those minutes in English and six minutes in the native languages.

Tri-City Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
