Wrestling: Southridge rallies past Kennewick

Southridge’s Trenton Nett picked up a key victory Thursday, pinning Kennewick’s Alejandro Ramos in 1 minute, 22 seconds in their 132-pound match at Southridge.

Nett was a state alternate last season, while Ramos was a state qualifier. The victory helped the Suns lock up a 52-30 Mid-Columbia Conference dual win.

The Lions jumped out to an 18-0 lead thanks to pins by Josue Villa (106), David Rojo (113) and Nelson Cartagena (120), but Southridge rallied on the strength of its middle weights.

Danny Navarro picked up a major decision victory at 138 and Lydon Reams had a solid win at 145 for the Suns.

Walla Walla 57, Kamiakin 18: Martin Barrera decisioned Cedar Ceja 7-5 at 138 pounds to lead the visiting Blue Devils to a Mid-Columbia Conference victory.

The match of the night was at 145 pounds, as Kamiakin’s Roman Montalvo won by an 8-7 decision in four overtimes against Brandon Hernandez.
