Letter -- Kennewick schools: Yes

January 23, 2014

Voting "yes" on the Kennewick School District's replacement levy benefits the entire community. I have lived in the Tri-Cities for 34 years and have raised four children, all graduates of Kennewick schools. They participated in music, sports, cheer and DECA, and each had a rich educational experience thanks to our community support of schools. All four children were well prepared for college, work and citizenship. They are successful teachers, coaches, medical and dental professionals.

The money generated from the levy pays for text books, teachers, librarians, counselors, honors and advanced courses, athletics, music, utilities, maintenance, transportation, security, technology and much more. The upcoming two-year maintenance and operation levy election is not a new tax; it will replace a two-year levy that expires this year.

This levy will be used to retain the quality services and staff that we already have.

I am proud of my children's accomplishments that were made possible because of a quality education. Please continue to invest in our kids and the future of our community. Please vote "yes" for Kennewick Schools.

JACK ANDERSON SR., Kennewick
