Letter -- Pasco schools: Yes

January 23, 2014

The Tri-City Herald allows its Thursday opinion section to be used for voicing the positive events we experience in our community. Frequently the sentiment, "I'll pay it forward," is expressed in those letters to the editor.

In this spirit I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of my parents' and grandparents' generation who were willing to pay for my public education. Their generosity ensured I learned to read, write, do math, understand statistics and study science, opening opportunities and new ways of considering the world that I would have missed otherwise.

Most of those who supported my education did not know me, but they were responsible for establishing the bedrock I used to become a contributing member of our society.

In gratitude for the invaluable gift they gave me, I will vote for the Pasco School levy. I'm going to pay it forward.
