CBC women remain undefeated in region play

Sydney Mercer and Courtney Nelson each scored 14 points to lead the Columbia Basin women’s basketball team to an 85-68 victory over Big Bend on Wednesday in Moses Lake in NWAACC East play.

Kelsey Yenney added 11 points and Shannon Bland had 10, as the Hawks shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the field in the victory.

Riley Jemmett’s 23 led the Vikings, who were held to just 34.4 percent (22-of-64) shooting from the field.

The Hawks outscored the Vikings 39-26 in the first half, forcing 21 turnovers in the ballgame.

Walla Walla women 45, Spokane 37: Amy DeLong’s 14 points led the Warriors, who overcame a cold shooting night to win an NWAACC East road game.

Walla Walla shot just 33.9 percent from the field (19-of-56), but held Spokane to an ice-cold 23.1 percent (15-of-65).
