Connell City Council to have monthly meetings

CONNELL -- The Connell City Council agreed Tuesday to hold informal town hall meetings once a month.

The meetings will be at 6 p.m. the second Monday each month at the Connell Community Center, 211 E. Elm St.

"This will be a place where citizens can drop in and talk freely with me and council," said Mayor "Blacky" Blackwell. "Sometimes people are reluctant to stand up in a structured meeting but where they're surrounded by friends and people they know they can relax and not have to worry about Robert's Rules of Order."

Blackwell said he plans to walk around the room and simply hear what's on the minds of Connell's residents.

"We will have to keep a record of what's said, what's discussed, for the protection of the people, city staff and the council. But there will be no votes, no decisions made," Blackwell said.

The first town hall meeting will be Feb. 10.
