Letter: Mid-Columbians hungry to help others

January 22, 2014

As volunteer executive director of the Tri Cities Food Bank, I want to thank the citizens and companies of Benton and Franklin counties for their ongoing and kind support of the food bank, especially during the holiday season.

The food and cash donations are much appreciated and will be helpful in fulfilling our mission to help feed the needy in the Tri-Cities and Benton City areas.

I also want to thank the volunteers who worked so hard this past year to meet a demand that was higher than we have ever seen in our food bank's history.

We are all very fortunate to live in such a generous community that always steps up when the need is there for our citizens. I also want to thank the Tri-City Herald and the other media for their coverage this past year. Without the coverage that these media companies provide, the awareness would not be there and we would not receive the support from the community that we do.
