Teen driver rear-ends pickup on Clearwater

Kennewick paramedics and firefighters move accident victim Peggy Powers of Umatilla to a gurney Wednesday after the Ford pickup she was riding in was hit from behind on West Clearwater Avenue and North Johnson Street. Kennewick police officer Drew Sneyd said Meghan McIntyre, 19, of Kennewick, was westbound on Clearwater in a Honda Accord and hit the back of the Ford pickup driven by Gary Powers of Umatilla. Powers told police he was stopped for a transit bus at a bus stop. Peggy Powers and McIntyre both were treated and later released from Trios Health, hopsital officials said.

— A 19-year-old driver in a Honda Accord rear-ended a F-250 pickup truck on Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick, just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The female teenager was knocked unconscious, said Kennewick police Officer Aaron Hamel. She was helped out of the car by nearby business employees.

Two people were in the pickup and the female passenger was being taken to the hospital, Hamel said.

Both cars were driving west on Clearwater, Hamel said. The pickup was stopped for traffic when the Honda hit it.

The crash happened in front of the Round Table Pizza.
