Teen in critical condition after SUV loses its rear axle outside Richland

— An Oregon teen is in critical condition after his SUV lost its rear axle and rolled Monday on Highway 240, about 20 miles west of Richland, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Dakota K. Dunn, 18, of Pilot Rock, lost control of his GMC Yukon about 10 a.m., the state patrol said.

There were no passengers in the SUV and no other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

Dunn was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The SUV's rear axle fell off, causing the rollover, the state patrol said. No citations were issued.

The SUV was totaled and towed from the scene, the state patrol said.
