— A woman delivering the Tri-City Herald saw two men burglarizing a Richland home Monday and followed the suspects until police were able to arrest them, according to police officials.

The woman was delivering newspapers abput 4:15 a.m. on Strange Drive when she saw a van parked outside a house with its doors open, Capt. Mike Cobb said. The house is under construction and vacant.

The woman watched the men leave the house and speed off in the van, Cobb said. She called police and followed the van near Columbia Park Trail.

Police stopped the van on Highway 240 and found what appeared to be stolen items from the house, Cobb said. Tools, a wooden door and a barbecue were spotted in the van.

Police arrested Michael A. Gaines, 29, and Graciano Renero-Rodriguez, 26. Both Pasco men were booked into the Benton County jail.

The van was impounded and police plan to search it, Cobb said.
