Columbia-Burbank girls take down River View

Rachel Roberts collected a game-high 16 points and 14 rebounds to lift the Columbia-Burbank girls basketball team to a 58-33 SCAC East home win over River View on Saturday.

Burbank jumped out to a 12-2 first-quarter lead and pushed it to 34-12 at the half.

“We had a tough loss (Friday) night against Kiona-Benton. The kids responded well tonight,” Coyotes coach Jay Aune said.

Burbank overpowered and out-rebounded River View inside. One Coyotes staffer tallied 31 offensive rebounds for Burbank.

“I don’t know if that’s true,” Aune said. “I hope it is.”

Kiona-Benton 47, Royal 38: The Bears got strong rebounding to counter a poor shooting night (17-for-70, 24 percent), and Momo Calzadillas finished with 15 points to lift Ki-Be over the visiting Knights in an SCAC East matchup.

Flor Araujo led Royal with 13 points.
