Letter: No to gas tax

January 16, 2014

Gov. Jay Inslee wants to increase the tax on gas and doesn't think there is anything wrong with the way the Washington state Department of Transportation spends the money collected through said tax.

As Sen. Sharon Brown said, there are a lot of questions about ramps that go nowhere, bridge pontoons that don't float and well casings in the way of Big Bertha. Until there is sufficient oversight over Department of Transportation projects to stop the production of such wasteful comedy relief, there should be no tax collected. Just think how much those failed projects have cost and what could have been accomplished without increasing taxes.
