Election letter -- Prosser schools: Yes

January 13, 2014

We are voting yes on the Prosser School District's maintenance and operations levy Feb. 11. We ask that you join us in voting yes on this important levy.

As 35-year residents of Prosser, we know what an important role quality public education plays in making and keeping Prosser an outstanding community in which to live. We have also witnessed the long tradition of support by our fine fellow citizens for our public schools. Our children, who are currently part of the Prosser schools' professional staff, grew up in our schools, and now our grandchildren attend these same schools.

To maintain educational and extracurricular programs at their present level and to meet mandated state and federal requirements, local school districts like ours need to periodically pass necessary M&O levies to make up the difference where state and federal funding fall short.

Some of the district's transportation and general maintenance costs also are covered by the levies. As you can see, passing such levies is vital to maintain our local high quality of education.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools and for your "yes" vote on Feb. 11.
