Ignite Youth Mentoring plans a community event Monday in Richland in recognition of National Mentoring Month.

The ceremony is from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Richland Public Library, 955 Northgate Drive.

State Sen. Sharon Brown will appear electronically via Skype and Kennewick Police Chief Ken Hohenberg will speak about the way youth mentoring has affected the community.

Also, two Ignite youths and their mentors will share their stories and how mentoring changed their lives.
