Letter: Evidence of faith

January 10, 2014

This letter is in reference to Michael Smith's letter on Jan, 8. He states, "Faith is belief without evidence." But Christian faith is not without evidence. There are well over one billion people on the planet today who have this faith and would confirm it is directly related to what has transpired in their lives. Numerous books tell of what their authors have discovered bringing them to this faith. Two authors: C. S. Lewis and Josh McDowell were both atheists who began writing about why they disbelieved Christianity, but instead discovered such evidence to the contrary that they became believers themselves. Two great books to read regarding this are Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell, and Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis.

In the end we will all know. If one day, when I leave this world, I find that I am wrong, what have I lost? But when the unbeliever leaves this life, to be wrong would mean losing everything.

One way to find out: Take time to ask God to show you he really does exist, believing you will get an answer. The evidence you request will come. Try it.
