Coming back from their first league loss, the Pasco Bulldogs put a hurtin’ on Walla Walla with a 51-14 win over the visiting Blue Devils in a Mid-Columbia Conference dual Thursday night.

Pasco scored five pins in the match, including four in a row from Bobby Guzman at 106 pounds, Patrick Torres at 113, Luis Ochoa at 120 and Victor Ramirez at 126 to put the dual out of reach. Anthony Sagastegui at 160 scored the other stop.

The night started out rough for the Bulldogs when Misael Estrada injured his elbow in the opening bout at 182 and had to default to Donovan Romero. But Roman Cortez turned the tide with a 3-1 decision over Brian Rogel at 195, followed by a forfeit at 220 and Audie Pearson’s 5-0 win at 285.

Pasco coach Jay Covington pointed to Pearson’s win and Ramirez’s pin as key matches.

“We had some kids that wrestled well, but those two were standouts for us tonight,” Covington said after his squad improved to 3-1 in MCC duals. “Just stepping up and getting some things done.”

Walla Walla got a strong win from Noe Gonzalez with a second-period technical fall at 132. Wa-Hi’s Andrew Granchukoff pulled off an upset in the final match at 170, edging Anthony Burrows 2-1.
