Letter: Thankful 'Thirst' day

January 8, 2014

It never ceases to amaze me how generous our community is.

The Holiday Wish List series by the Tri City Herald was educational and heartwarming. As the New Year begins, let's keep thinking of ways to assist these deserving nonprofit organizations that help so many people in our region.

I have to say, though, that the contribution to the Union Gospel Mission by Adams Enterprises was extraordinarily benevolent!

The company, in honor of its 40th anniversary of doing business locally, contributed 40 cents from each beverage sold in Tri-City McDonald's locations from Dec. 1-24 to the mission.

The December fundraising effort brought in more than $125,000 for the mission. Thanks to Lee and Betty Adams, their incredible staff and all the thirsty patrons who made possible!
