West Richland seeks to fill city council vacancy

By The Tri-City HeraldJanuary 7, 2014

West Richland is accepting applications for a vacant position on the city council.

Two residents, Johan Curtiss and Jay Bowman, filed for the job before the November election.

Bowman withdrew from the race but missed the deadline to have his name removed from the ballot and received 51 percent of the vote.

Curtiss received 48 percent and told the Herald she plans to apply for the open position.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 21. The council will review the applications and appoint someone to fill the position until the next election.

Council members are part-time and nonpartisan. Applicants must have lived in West Richland for as least a year and be a registered voter.
