Boys basketball: Richland breaks century mark again

January 4, 2014

Nathan Streufert had a monster night with 30 points, 27 rebounds and four assists and the Richland Bombers topped the century mark for the second straight night in a 102-69 win over the Hanford Falcons on Saturday night at Art Dawald Gym.

Payton Radliff scored 24 points and Jacob DeVries 17 for the Bombers, coming off a 108-point effort against Chiawana. And while all those flashy point totals are hard to overlook, coach Earl Streufert sees a lot of team play.

“I see balance and unselfishness,” he said after the Bombers improved to 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Mid-Columbia Conference. “Look at it, guys with 17, 12, 24, 30 points. Nathan is the third guy on the team to score 30 or more points this year. That’s kind of indicative of whoever has the hot hand gets the ball.”

Steven Beo added 12 points for Richland and Carson Miller had 10 points and nine rebounds in 10 minutes. The Bombers outrebounded the Falcons 57-30, with 24 offensive boards leading to 23 second-chance points.

Brady Heid hit for 19 points to lead Hanford (2-7, 1-3), while Grant Mickelson and Kendall Watson each scored 16. The Falcons were 9-for-21 (43 percent) on 3-pointers.
