2 arrested, another at large, for car thefts in Kennewick

January 2, 2014

— Kennewick police arrested two people early Wednesday in connection with a car theft.

On New Year’s Eve, detectives with the Kennewick Criminal Apprehension Team found an occupied stolen 1997 Honda Accord parked in a lot at the Park Ridge Apartments just before midnight.

When police attempted to contact the driver, the driver sped off, police said. When the suspect pulled onto Hood Street, the driver reportedly lost control on the slick road and struck a parked car. The suspect then fled on foot and remains at large.

About an hour later, detectives spotted another stolen vehicle on Highway 395 off 19th Avenue, police said.

The driver of the stolen car was identified as Brittany Godwin, 32, a transient. Her passenger was Casey Mallonee. Both were booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle.

The ignitions on both vehicles had been damaged, police reported.

Anyone with information about either car theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 509-586-TIPS or 800-222-TIPS or online at www.tricitiescrimestoppers.org.
