Sculptor to donate bust of Benjamin Franklin

By The Tri-City HeraldDecember 31, 2013

Richland sculptor Michael Salazar is scheduled to donate a bust of Benjamin Franklin at the start of Friday's Franklin County commission meeting.

Commissioners voted last month to accept a bust of the county namesake, designed by Salazar.

The sculptor previously designed a bust of Col. Franklin T. Matthias, who oversaw the Manhattan Project, the original mission of the Hanford site. That bust is on display at the Richland Public Library.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the county Courthouse, 1016 N. Fourth Ave., Pasco.

The meeting also will include a public hearing on amending the county's transportation improvement plan for 2014-19.
