December 30, 2013

— A fire Saturday evening damaged a Kennewick home.

A neighbor saw smoke coming from the garage at 705 W. 43 Ave. at about 5:07 p.m.

The fire spread from the garage into the home and the attic, according to Kennewick fire officials. Firefighters were able to protect and salvage belongings from the living areas of the home, but the garage, attic and kitchen were damaged.

No one was home at the time of the fire, officials said. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters from Benton Fire District 1 and Franklin Fire District 3 assisted. Also helping were Benton PUD and Kennewick police.
