Letter: 'Tis the Season

December 30, 2013

I’ve never considered myself a prude, but I am disgusted by the TV commercials that barrage us during the Christmas season. Santa Claus is pitching everything from cars to electronic devices. I can envision a commercial where Santa and Mrs. Claus are exchanging meaningful, suggestive, glances advertising Cialis. (How do people explain those ads to kids?) Then there is the ad with 10 men in boxer shorts ringing bells by swinging their hips. Stores are staying open all night long, and people are maxing out their credit cards. Next year, I expect to see ads asking, “What would Jesus Buy?”
