Tommy Avis, 37, turned himself in at the Benton County jail Sunday morning and was booked for first-degree assault related to Saturday's shooting of Derrick Cady, 35, police said.

Three others were arrested on unrelated charges as a direct result of the incident, according to a Kennewick Police news release. Police say they are seeking two other suspects.

Cady and Avis, both from Kennewick, were associates who were involved in a dispute, possibly about property, police said. Both have arrest records. Avis confronted Cady and Cady was shot in his leg at 8:43 a.m. Saturday in the 6000 block of West Albany Court, police said. Avis and multiple other people left in a rented 2014 Nissan Versa, which police later recovered, police said.

Police continue looking for Michael Eugene Land, who is 24 and white, who is a suspected accomplice in the shooting, police said. Also wanted for questioning is Genesis Marie Garza, who is 28 and Hispanic, and has unrelated warrants for her arrest, police said.

Cady was taken to Trios Health in Kennewick and then to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, where he remains, police said.

Police arrested Cathy Pamela Kelly, 44; Samuel James Crosland, 32; and Russell Allen Hawkinson, 25, on unrelated charges that were uncovered in the investigation, police said.
