Police: Man shot on Kennewick street

Tri-City HeraldDecember 28, 2013

Police are searching for a car they suspect is connected to a Saturday morning shooting in Kennewick.

The car is a silver 2014 Nissan Versa with Washington license plate ANB6037, according to a Kennewick Police news release.

A man was shot multiple times at 8:43 a.m. Saturday in the street in the 6000 block of West Albany Court in Kennewick, police said. The victim was taken by medics to Trios Health in Kennewick after the shooting and was later airlifted to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, police said. Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit are investigating the case.

Police ask anyone who sees the car to avoid confronting or following its occupants, but say to instead call 911.

Police are not providing information on the identity of the victim, possible suspects or witnesses at this time, police said. A family friend of the victim identified him as Derrick Cady, 35. She said he was undergoing surgery at Harbor View Saturday afternoon, but was stable. She said they took him to Harbor View because it has a trauma unit.

Cady has a history of drug use and criminal activity, the friend said.

The friend said Cady is a Kennewick resident who has four children. She said he has been in-and-out of homes and jobs, but has been unemployed for about a year.
