Pasco home damaged by Christmas tree fire

Tri-City HeraldDecember 26, 2013

— A Christmas tree fire Thursday night caused significant damage to a Pasco home.

The live tree was in the basement of the house at 1919 W. Ruby St., and by the time firefighters arrived at about 6 p.m., flames were shooting from almost all the basement windows, said Battalion Chief Dave Ferguson of the Pasco Fire Department.

"The fire moved quickly but we were able to get it knocked down quickly," he said.

Two of the seven people who lived at the home were treated for minor injuries, he added. A dozen fire trucks and support vehicles assisted with the fire, including firefighters from Franklin Fire District 3 and Kennewick Fire Department.

Pasco Fire Department Chaplain Krista Weeks said the family was being helped by the Red Cross.
