Circle K Stores among firms fined by state

The Washington State Department of Ecology has fined Circle K Stores $1,200 for failing to comply with leak detection requirements for underground fuel storage tanks in West Richland.

The fine was issued Sept. 26 and was among $283,166 in penalties issued to various companies statewide during July through September. The agency released the list Monday.

Penalties may be reduced from the initial amount because of a ruling by the Pollution Control Hearings Board or a negotiated settlement.
