Letter: Hold parents accountable

December 22, 2013

"Affluenza"! I like that term! An expression, according to the court, that means too much money, too much freedom, too little responsibility and no consequences. Sounds good to me.

Let the young man who killed four people in Texas go free. Now, let us take care of the real problem -- the parents who are, according to the Texas court, responsible for this case of "affluenza."

It's another case of parental neglect that boarders on abuse. It is the parent's responsibility to teach their child how to interact in society, and the parents of this young man obviously did not take care of their responsibility. They should be held accountable.
