By The Tri-City HeraldDecember 19, 2013

The public is invited to a celebration honoring the 4A state football champion Chiawana High Riverhawks from 5 to 6 p.m. today in the Chiawana High School student mall.

Players will be on hand to sign autographs, take photos and visit with community members about their winning season and championship game.

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a brief ceremony. City of Pasco officials will present a proclamation and recognize Coach Steve Graff, who was named the Washington State Football Coaches and Seattle Seahawks Coach of the Year.

"We are proud of the championship win, but even more proud of the character these young men and their coaches displayed in Tacoma," said Superintendent Saundra Hill. "Their perseverance and sportsmanship were very evident to everyone watching the game. Please join us to congratulate the team."

The school is at 8125 W. Argent Road.
