American lose 5-2 to Seattle

December 17, 2013

Brandon Carlo and Braden Purtill each scored goals, but it wasn’t enough Tuesday night as the visiting Tri-City Americans lost 5-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds in Western Hockey League play at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Americans who will now try to regroup with a 10-day holiday break before returning to action in late December.

Tri-City goalie Evan Sarthou made his sixth career WHL start, stopping 32 of Seattle’s 37 shots.

Tuesday’s game marks the halfway point of the season for the Americans, who find themselves one game above the .500 mark.

The Americans return to action Dec. 27, when they open a home-and-home with the Portland Winterhawks at the Toyota Center for a 7:05 p.m. faceoff.
