Richland SWAT SUV damaged by falling metal

Tri-City HeraldDecember 17, 2013

A sports utility vehicle used by Richland police SWAT team members was damaged Tuesday when a piece of metal fell off a semi-truck.

The metal fell off the truck as it drove on Highway 240 about 8:30 a.m., said Richland police Capt. Mike Cobb.

It struck the SUV and another car, driven by a couple from out of state. No injuries were reported.

The SWAT team vehicle had damage to the front of it, Cobb said. Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident. Police officials say the truck's load was not secured properly.
