Kennewick's Three Rivers Carousel Foundation has received a $1,000 grant from the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation.

The money from the Valerie Sivinski Washington Preserves Fund will go toward the cost of building a home for the 102-year-old Carousel of Dreams under construction at the Southridge Sports & Events Complex.

The carousel is expected to open this spring.

The entire project, which began about 12 years ago, will cost about $4 million, including the initial purchase of the horses and the $2 million building.
