Prosser teacher given Golden Apple Award

Tri-City HeraldDecember 11, 2013

A Prosser teacher is one of six teachers to be honored in January with a 22nd annual Golden Apple Award.

Connie Hatchel is a mathematics instructional coach at Housel Middle School.

She has established a number of intervention programs in her school, such as "Math 360," a tutoring program that led to a dramatic increase in the number of students passing the math portion of the Measurements of Student Progress exam, school officials said.

"Connie is truly an advocate for students and a model for other teachers," said Mary Snitily, Prosser School District assistant superintendent.
