Outdoor ice hockey

A group of friends play a game of ice hockey Monday near Bateman Island in Richland. The group, made up of old friends and family, reach each other via text for a pickup game whenever a chance of thick ice presents itself said Ken Stenersen of Kennewick. Mark Allen with Allen Water Rescue Services said when you go on the ice you go at your own risk and if you do, have a plan before you go in case something happens including having a long rope with a floatation device attached. Recent conditions has made the ice thick but caution is always advised, said Allen. "We can't stop you but make good decisions if you do go on the ice."
