Man with 45 convictions suspected of stealing food, cash

— A man who has 45 convictions on his record was arrested recently for allegedly breaking into a Walla Walla restaurant and stealing more than $750 in cash.

Police arrested Robert W. Philips, 48, Tuesday at an intersection in Walla Walla, said Officer Tim Bennett.

Philips is accused of smashing glass on a front door to Graze Restaurant early in the morning on Nov. 29 and entering the business. Some food items and cash were taken from the restaurant.

A surveillance camera captured pictures of a suspect who police say is Philips. The Walla Walla man has been arrested more than 50 times since 1984.

Philips is being held at the Walla Walla County jail on $100,000 bail.
