Update: Boy seriously injured in roll-over near West Richland

December 1, 2013

— A 9-year-old boy was in serious condition at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center on Sunday evening after being in a single-vehicle rollover near West Richland.

Muhammed Alsarama, 42, of Wenatchee, was driving his 2001 Ford van eastbound on Highway 240 near milepost 16 when he lost control of the van around 6:25 a.m. Sunday, according to Washington State Patrol.

The van left the roadway and rolled three times before it stopped on its side about 100 feet off of the road, according to officials.

Both Alsarama and his passenger, Abdullah Alsarama, 9, were transported to Richland’s Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Alsarama was treated and released, but Abdullah was transported to Harborview Medical Center, hospital officials said.

Officials say the speed of the van was too fast for conditions.ditions.
