Two people were briefly hospitalized after a Saturday afternoon accident on the blue bridge.

The accident happened at 12:30 p.m. on the southbound lanes on the Kennewick side of the Highway 395 bridge, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A 1999 Chevrolet S10 pickup, driven by Serafin Garcia, 27, of Kennewick, slowed because of congestion while in the right lane of the bridge, WSP said.

A 2004 Chevrolet C1 pickup, driven by Isidro Zamudio Garcia, 27, of Pasco, changed lanes and struck Serafin Garcia's pickup, WSP said.

Serafin Garcia and Maria E. Lara, 27, of Kennewick, a passenger in Isidro Garcia's pickup, were taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco, where they were treated and later released.

The accident was caused by speeding, WSP said.
