Letter: Remember to Vote in Kennewick Irrigation District election

November 20, 2013

I would like to attract attention to the upcoming election for the Kennewick Irrigation District board of directors. Yes I am a candidate, but that is not why I am writing this. It is important for all recipients of KID water to come out and vote. It is your right and duty to do so.

Remember, you are the voice of KID and the water rights we receive. It makes no difference if you have a small postage stamp of a yard like me or own many acres of land for agricultural use. It's your duty to vote.

Elections are Dec. 10 at the KID building or absentee ballots are available upon request. You must request an absentee ballot and return it by Dec. 5. During the 2012 KID board of directors elections, only 135 people voted. There are about 23,000 eligible voters. So come out and vote -- either in person or absentee. But vote.

DEAN DENNIS, Kennewick
