Teen allegedly pulls shotgun on father

TRI-CITY HERALD STAFFNovember 18, 2013

A 17-year-old surrendered to officers after he allegedly pulled a shotgun on his father and refused to come out of his house for nearly an hour.

The teen and his dad started wrestling at their house on West 27th Street on Sunday, but the play fight turned serious, police said. The two started fighting, and the teen went to his parents' room and grabbed a shotgun.

The dad told police his son has mental health issues, police said. The man was able to grab the gun from his son.

The teen then grabbed a knife and made suicidal threats, police said. The teen's brother was able to get the knife and everyone but the teen left the house.

The teen stayed in the house for nearly an hour before police say he decided to come out. He was arrested and booked into the juvenile detention center in Kennewick.
