Shelley and Jim Kern

Shelley and Jim Kern of Richland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a July family reunion and a October cruise to the Caribbean.

They were married Oct. 11, 1963, at the home of the groom.

Shelley was employed by Design Dental Lab and retired from the office of C. E. Johnson DDS.

Jim was employed by Kaiser Engineers from 1960 to 1991. They moved around the United States due to his job and returned to the Tri-Cities in 1988. He retired from Fluor Federal in 1992.

They have three children, Elizabeth Von Bargen of West Richland; David of Yuma, Ariz. and Dale of Kennewick.

They have eight grandchildren.
