FRIDAY FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Othello routs East Valley

Josiah Peterson and Tanner Wagner combined for 195 yards rushing and four touchdowns as the Othello Huskies hammered the East Valley Red Devils 52-12 on Friday to remain alive for a playoff spot.

The Huskies will take part in a three-way playoff with Prosser and West Valley at 2 p.m. Monday at East Valley in Moxee.

Kiona-Benton 29, Highland 20: Alex Ramirez and Glen Manley each scored touchdowns as Ki-Be scored 16 in the second quarter, and Tyler Bissell kicked three field goals to lead the Bears to a road win and end their season on a positive note.

Quarterback Austin Haughton threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Ramirez had 109 yards receiving on four catches and also picked off a pass on defense. Cody Zyph also had a pick and a TD reception.

Liberty Christian 60, St. John-Endicott 22: John Lesser scored six touchdowns and the Patriots wrapped up the regular season Thursday with an easy victory at Hanford High.

Lesser scored on a kickoff return, four rushing touchdowns and a fumble return.

Liberty Christian, which tied with Colton and Touchet for the league title, is the No. 3 seed to the first round of the state playoffs thanks to a number draw.

The Patriots will host the winner of Friday’s Cusick-Odessa Harrington game. Liberty Christian, the defending 1B state champion, beat Cusick in the state semifinals last year.
