Candidate who dropped out leading in West Richland council race

November 5, 2013

— Jay Bowman was leading in the election for Position 1 on the West Richland Council Tuesday night, despite dropping out of the race for personal reasons.

He had 785 votes Tuesday night, or 51.5 percent of the votes counted. Johan Curtiss, who remained in the race, had 783 votes or 48.5 percent.

Neither candidate submitted information for the Benton County voter’s guide.

The position now is held by Brent Gerry, who ran for West Richland mayor.
