In Service for Nov. 3

Two cadets of the local U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps recently were promoted to chief petty officer, the highest rank a cadet can receive. They are Nathan Moore and Matthew Kiser.

Matthew is the son of Scott and Dana Kiser of West Richland. Nathan is the son of Jennifer Moore of Richland and Jody Moore of Chicago.

They are members of the Columbia Basin Battalion Sea Cadets, Kennewick.

The are more than 300 units and 15,000 cadets nationwide, and last year 108 cadets were promoted to chief petty officer.
