Election letter -- West Richland: Johnson

November 1, 2013

As fire commissioner for Benton Fire District 4, I am fortunate to work alongside Merle Johnson in developing West Richland.

Merle supports West Richland as a charter member of the Red Mountain Lions Club. Merle literally works to clean up trash and remove weeds along the Van Giesen Corridor in support of the annual Veterans Day Parade; constructs wheel-chair ramps, railings and general repair for West Richland seniors; performs multiple fundraisers to provide glasses to less fortunate school children, veterans, and seniors; and is co-chairman of the annual Harvest Festival.

Merle is a mentor and chairman for Ignite Youth mentoring. As a member of the West Richland Chamber of Commerce, Merle supports business development and supports the many chamber activities (Veterans Day Parade, Hogs & Dogs, Time of Remembrance, Easter Egg Hunt, chamber luncheons, Thanksgiving and Christmas families).

Merle is a strong supporter of the fire district and police department. Merle leads "Leadership Tri-Cities," developing leaders for today and tomorrow.

I'm confident that as mayor, Merle's dedication, compassion and leadership will provide a bright future for our all of West Richland. Please join me in voting for Merle.
