Election letter -- West Richland: Gerry

November 1, 2013

As a longtime resident of West Richland, I have been pleased with the progress our community has made during the past several years. I noted the endorsement of the Tri-City Herald of Brent Gerry based on his administrative skills and council experience. I have reviewed both candidates' websites and found the endorsement of former Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Aldrich on Brent Gerry's website most instructive -- "The mayor has no vote on council matters unless there is a tie. The council sets policy and the mayor implements it." I believe Brent has the administrative skills to do an excellent job as our mayor, and we would be hard put to find a more open and honest candidate.

I do have a concern that Merle Johnson's campaign promises and statements are not congruent with the responsibilities of the office, so I would urge you to carefully read and consider the recommendations of our former mayors who are supporting Brent.

VINCENT FitzPATRICK, West Richland
